After Surgery

The surgery went well. It was faster than expected and there were no real complications. The heart had developed a lot of muscle in the right ventricle and the doctor estimated that he would have only survived until age 3-4 with this condition. Eventually, the right ventricle would have become too muscular causing complete heart failure or else the lungs would have failed from being overworked. As it is, Dylan will be just fine now.

It is likely he will need a pulmonary valve replacement when he is a teenager, but that depends on how he develops.

As you can see from the picture below, he is hooked up to a lot of machines. Most of these will be disconnected over the next 24-48 hours. He is still sedated and will be until they can remove the breathing tube.

We are so grateful for the overwhelming support we have received. Thank you everyone!

  2. Way to go Dylan! What a relief! I remember those surgery days with Brennen and Camden (and Aiden, but Aiden was older). I too remember thinking what a miracle it was that both babies remained calm when we couldn't feed them--true testament to the power of a Priesthood blessing. We're praying that he has a quick recovery and that you are home from the hospital in no time.
