Last check

Today was our last appointment at Swedish before Dylan's pre-op and surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital. The cardiologist gave us the green light. As long as Dylan stays healthy for the next 2 weeks, we should be good to go. He weighed in today at 10 lbs. 11 oz. He's finally big enough to have open heart surgery. Apparently when babies are smaller, especially preemies, the blood vessels in their head are not developed enough and have a hard time handling the strain of such a major operation, which often shows itself with bleeding in the brain. We are grateful that we have been able to hold off on Dylan's surgery for so long. His little body should be able to handle the procedure if all goes well! 

So from our end, we will continue to take lots of deep breaths and do lots of praying. In a lot of ways it is harder to have to anticipate something like this. In Utah we were just thrown in to a difficult situation and we went into survival mode to cope with what was happening. But now we have to wait and we have lots of time to think about what will happen on June 2nd.
