Quick Check

We were at the pediatrician's office for Katelyn's check up the other day, but since we were there the doctor wanted to get measurements on Dylan. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. He weighed in at 23 lbs, and was able to gain that weight without the help of super fatty foods, or "smothering everything he eats with butter, heavy whipping cream or olive oil" as was suggested by a nutritionist a few months ago to help him pack on some pounds. I believe that technically he is in the 1st percentile on the growth charts, but is getting a little bit closer to that bottom line, which is 5%. The real surprise was the height. He is getting taller, which puts him above 10%! That would explain why his 12 month and 18 month sized pants have been getting a little bit short on him lately. The pediatrician was very pleased with the results, and wants to continue to monitor Dylan's growth. So we'll go in again in July to get another weight. Way to grow Dylan!

Dylan continues to learn all the time, and is surprisingly good at communicating with us with just a few words. He picks up new words here and there and uses lots of facial expressions, pointing, sounds, and actions to communicate the rest. We feel like he is definitely making progress.

Most of all, we love his sense of humor that has emerged, his increasing independence and strong opinions, and his determination. And of course he is loved to pieces by his siblings and those who know him. We are excited for a very normal, uneventful, fun filled summer!
