Dylan is continuing to get bigger. Yesterday he weighed in at 6 lbs. 11 oz. at the cardiologist's office. He does not show signs of distress, like turning blue or sweating and panting while he eats. The doctors are constantly asking me about these things so that they can act if he starts working too hard to breathe. His heart murmur, which is the sound the doctors hear when they listen to his heart, is not getting any louder, which is a good thing. A doctor let me listen to his heart through a stethoscope while he was in the NICU and it sounded like a really loud dishwasher. No joke! We will probably be looking at his open heart surgery some time in June if he continues to breathe easily on his own.
Today we went to a special clinic for him to get his second synergist shot. This is a shot that gives him RSV antibodies. It was painful for him to get, but he settled down pretty quickly afterwards. We are so thankful that our insurance is covering these things. They're extremely expensive. We can probably look forward to these shots once a month during the next RSV season, October-April of next year. But hopefully it will help prevent Dylan from getting sick.
Our little boy is growing and doing so well, we're so proud of him!
And just in case you were wondering, here is how Dylan sizes up next to a size 21 shoe.

I am so happy that Dylan is doing so well! He is just darling! Enjoy your little angels! :o)
ReplyDeleteWow! It is amazing how much perspective is gained next to the shoe! Who wears a size 21?!? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad he is doing well. He sure is a cutie!
Justin actually got that shoe from work as an award. I'm not sure who it belonged to, but they sure do have big feet!
